VOICES FOR WILD SOULS
VOICES FOR WILD SOULS respect all life on earth, promoting a future rooted in empathy, tolerance, and courage.
Voices for Wild Souls is a series of programs Debra designed to help participants explore the blurred boundaries between human and nonhuman animals and lessons other species have to teach us, individually and collectively. The intention is always to cultivate a desire and means for speaking out on behalf of animals that cannot speak for themselves. These programs are geared for children and young adults.
Voices for Wild Souls helps to awaken an awareness of the injustices suffered by animals, the disappearance of animals in the wild, the extinction of many animal and plant species, and the destruction of our native lands. The activism that arises helps contribute to a future rooted in empathy and courage.

Children’s Educational Programs
Do what calls your heart: effective action comes from love. It is unstoppable, and it is enough. —Joanna Macy
The Voices for Wild Souls educational programs help children of all ages deepen their respect and empathy for animals, cultivate a more meaningful relationship with nature, and inspire actions that make measurable differences in the lives of all living beings, including themselves. After all, climate change, disappearing animal habitats, the extinction of many species, the inhumane treatment of human and nonhuman animals, and the destruction of our natural environment is having a physical and emotional impact on children.
These educational programs provide experiential activities that invite children to reflect on the relevant issues, express their feelings about them through age-appropriate artistic endeavors like drawing, painting, making collages, writing, or movement; engage in meaningful conversation with peers; and speak out on behalf of particular animals, all the while discovering the power of their own voices. Ultimately, the children choose an action to take, either individually or as a group, thereby effecting positive change and becoming part of a solution.
Participants tend to emerge from these programs with increased self-awareness, empathy, and compassion, improved communication skills, and a budding interest in teamwork and problem solving.
